We bill your insurance directly, so there's nothing to file yourself. We accept UHA, HMSA, HMAA, and HMWG plans.
No insurance, or a plan we don't take? Self-pay is a flat $80 plus local taxes per virtual visit. Every visit, insured or self-pay, includes a secure video appointment with a board-certified family physician and, when medically appropriate, a prescription sent to your local pharmacy.
Virtual urgent care
ExpedientMed physicians evaluate and treat many common non-emergency medical concerns, including:
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Sinus symptoms and infections
- Sore throat
- Cough and respiratory symptoms
- Urinary tract infection (UTI) symptoms
- Pink eye and other minor eye concerns
- Rashes and minor skin conditions
- STI concerns and evaluation
- Minor infections
- General medical consultations
Some conditions require laboratory testing, imaging, or an in-person examination. Your physician will advise you when in-person care is needed.
Prescription refills
Need help with an existing medication?
Schedule a virtual consultation to discuss your medication and refill request. Your physician will review your medical history, current treatment, and whether continuing the medication is medically appropriate.
Prescription refills are not guaranteed and depend on the physician's clinical evaluation.
We encourage you to see your primary care doctor whenever possible for regular follow-up. We understand it can be hard to get in to see your primary care doctor at times, so we offer refills as a service to bridge you until you can see them.
We do not prescribe controlled substances. These include opioid pain medications (such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, or tramadol), benzodiazepines (such as alprazolam/Xanax, lorazepam/Ativan, or clonazepam/Klonopin), ADHD stimulants (such as Adderall or Ritalin), sleep medications like zolpidem (Ambien), and muscle relaxants like carisoprodol (Soma).
Weight management with GLP-1
Losing weight is rarely as simple as "eat less and move more." Biology, hormones, and genetics all affect how your body holds onto weight, which is why willpower alone often isn't enough.
At ExpedientMed, board-certified family physicians Dr. Nghiem Vu and Dr. Mark Shafik offer physician-led weight management using modern medications like Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide). Our focus isn't a quick fix. It's helping you build sustainable, long-term health, with a doctor guiding you every step of the way.
Who qualifies
GLP-1 treatment may be right for you if you are an adult with:
- A BMI of 30 or higher, or
- A BMI of 27 or higher plus at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol, or
- Type 2 diabetes with heart disease, heart failure, or chronic kidney disease.
Obesity is a long-term medical condition, so GLP-1 medication works best alongside nutrition counseling and regular physical activity. Your physician will confirm whether treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
Wegovy and Zepbound
Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide) work by mimicking natural gut hormones that help control hunger and metabolism. They can:
- Quiet appetite and cravings, so you feel satisfied sooner and smaller portions feel natural.
- Slow digestion, keeping food in your stomach longer so you stay full between meals.
- Improve blood sugar control, supporting steadier insulin levels and better metabolic health.
These medications work best as part of a complete plan. Paired with balanced, plant-focused nutrition and regular physical activity, they can help you achieve meaningful weight loss that lasts.
Our goal goes beyond medication. Over time, we want to help you build healthier habits that improve your long-term health and support an active life you can sustain.
What to expect
- Initial Consultation: We review your medical history and health goals to determine if GLP-1 therapy is safe and right for you.
- Insurance & Prescription Management: If you meet clinical criteria, we submit a prior authorization to your insurance provider. If coverage isn't available, we offer cash-pay options by prescribing directly through NovoCare (for Wegovy®) or LillyDirect™ (for Zepbound®). Please note: We do not prescribe compounded medications.
- Ongoing Support & Dosage Tuning: We conduct monthly check-ins to track your progress, manage any side effects, and adjust your dosage until you reach a stable maintenance plan, followed by routine check-ins.
Safety and side effects
Most side effects are mild, affect the digestive system, and often ease as your body adjusts. They can include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, bloating, heartburn, fatigue, or headache.
Serious side effects are rare but can include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar, kidney problems, or severe allergic reactions.
GLP-1 medications should not be combined with other GLP-1 medications, and they are not recommended if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma, or if you have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Your physician will review your history before starting treatment and monitor your progress and any side effects at each virtual visit, so you get professional guidance along with access to modern treatments like Wegovy and Zepbound.
